Pod on the Rooftops Episode #2: From Genesis … to Broadway

It’s Pod on the Rooftops, a podcast dedicated to the British rock band Genesis! In this introductory episode, the three gents talk about how they got into Genesis, why they love the band, and what’s to come on subsequent episodes.

Pod on the Rooftops is a new podcast miniseries that delves into the discography of British rock band Genesis, from 1969 to 1997.

Hosted by three buddies with a mutual love for all things Banks, Collins, Gabriel, Hackett, and Rutherford (and occasionally Phillips and Wilson), this series showcases the varied tastes and flavors of the band over the years…to say nothing of the varied opinions of the hosts.

In this second episode, Justin Mancini, Luke Franc, and Noah Franc discuss the Peter Gabriel era of the band, from 1969 to 1974. They break down hidden gems, overrated tracks, esoteric lyrics, and divine musical moments. Albums from this time period include – From Genesis to Revelation, Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

Subsequent episodes in this series will involve discussions of all of Genesis’s studio albums, extended plays, and select live albums. For every studio release, each host will select an underrated track, an overrated track (to bring the gods down to earth, of course), a favorite lyric, and a favorite musical moment.

If you’re the kind of Genesis devotee who debates the highs and lows of Genesis’s prog excesses and pop sensibilities, this is a podcast for you. Likewise, if you’re totally new to the band and don’t know a Squonk from a Slipperman, we hope this podcast will encourage you to discover the riches that await you in the Genesis canon.

Theme composed for the podcast by Luke Franc.
