Josh and Aaron Sarnecky are here to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Young Justice, the animated series featuring the superhero team of the same name.
Young Justice originally aired from November 26, 2010 to March 16, 2013 on Cartoon Network. DC Universe picked up the show for a third season, which premiered on January 4, 2019.
Young Justice follows a group of teenage sidekicks as they seek to prove themselves to their mentors. In “Independence Day” and “Fireworks,” which serve as the series’ two-part premiere, Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash face off against Cadmus Labs’ clone of Superman, Superboy. The series stars Jesse McCartney as Robin/Nightwing, Nolan North as Superboy, Khary Payton as Aqualad, Jason Spisak as Kid Flash, Danica McKellar as Miss Martian, and Stephanie Lemelin as Artemis. Crispin Freeman also contributes his voice as Speedy.
In addition to garnering critical acclaim and winning an Emmy for character design, Young Justice has fostered a cult following. It was this dedicated fanbase that led to the series’ return after cancellation.
In this podcast, Aaron and Josh talk about the series premiere, as well as the rest of the show. The brothers also discuss the differences between Young Justice and Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans series.
