It’s the The Blerd & The Beard reunion special — only on the BreakCast!
The show originated back in 2013 (ish) when Bill Bodkin (The Beard and Editor-in-Chief of Pop Break) and Mike Heyliger (The Blerd and then Editor-in-Chief of Pop Blerd) would do monthly guest spots on each other’s podcasts. Bill and Mike became friends through the music industry when (at the time) Mike was working as a publicist and Bill, like he is today, was running Pop Break.
Every month it was Bill making fun of Mike’s age, Mike making fun of Bill’s absurdity, and in between loving jabs — they’d discuss music, television, sports, politics and pop culture.
While that series did come to an end with Pop Blerd going on indefinite hiatus, Bill and Mike have remained close friends and every once in a while they like to return to their old stomping grounds and podcast together.
A few days after Christmas, Bill and Mike recorded this reunion special to talk about the year that was 2020. They don’t go into all the “unprecedented times” doom and gloom, but they have an honest conversation about how they survived the year, the positives (if any) they took from the year and the pieces of pop culture they wrapped themselves in in order to decompress from the heavy of the world. They also talk about Christmas music and more.
