“The Closet Champion” Mike Mueller reviews Celebrity Big Brother Season 3 Week 7 — where a winner is declared!
A GAMER TIL THE END
With the final three set, Todrick feels now is the time to reveal to everybody that he is a Big Brother superfan, and suddenly things start to make a lot more sense for Cynthia and Miesha. While I’m sure it’s a weight off of his shoulders, Todrick may have just sealed his fate as a third-place finish. Knowing just how well he knows this game, Cynthia or Miesha would be fools to let him sit in the final two, given how well he could explain his game to the jury. PLUS, a super fan has won each of the first two seasons.
Going into this season, there were two super fans, Chris Kirkpatrick, who somehow managed to backdoor himself out of the game, and Todrick, who is still here. Even though he just revealed his big secret to the house, that still doesn’t stop him from pitching Cynthia to take him to the finals with her over Miesha. While the likelihood of her winning the final HOH competition is slim to none, Todrick is trying to cover all of these bases just in case. He is a true gamer, right up until the end.
COAST TO COAST
Unlike the typical two-part Head of Household competition in regular Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother is just a single competition for the final head of household, which is great news for Cynthia. One victory here would shake up everything and make for a very dramatic final vote.
The competition is simple: a twist on the old “two truths and a lie” get-to-know-you game that people play at summer camp. The celebrities will see seven “shoutouts” from their former housemates, with each one stating three facts about their time in the BB household. The contestants must identify which statement is actually a lie in order to get the point. The person with the most points at the end wins.
As has been the case all season long, Miesha dominates the competition, clearly proving that not only is she a physical beast, she really has been paying attention this whole time. This is a pretty important competition for Miesha to win, not only to guarantee her spot in the final two, but to prove to the houseguests she wasn’t just getting by on braun, but on brains as well.
To nobody’s surprise, Miesha sticks to her word and takes her ride-or-die Todrick with her to the final two, making Cynthia the last houseguest eliminated from the game. The fact that Miesha won damn near every HoH competition she played in and stayed loyal to Todrick the entire time is a testament to her loyalty and was her strongest asset from day one in this household. While Todrick was pulling a lot of strings behind the scenes, it is now up to the jury to determine which game they respect more.
AND THE WINNERS ARE…
Usually, the jury is isolated from the outside world until it is time for voting, which is a change that was made after Big Brother 3 WAY back in 2002 because the jury felt bitter toward Danielle based on things that she said in the diary room, which is supposed to be confidential. A jury that is bitter toward someone based on things they didn’t directly hear while inside the house is a bit unfair, and it looks like that has struck again.
It is hard to say who would have won if the jury was isolated, but one thing is very clear: there were some very hurt feelings after people went home and heard Todrick say some nasty things behind their back. Todd Bridges said it best: “Everything was great, up until I saw the live feeds […] God bless you guys, and I hope you realize that playing this game and winning is doing it a good way, and not talking bad about people who are already gone.”
Miesha is this season’s winner, having received 7 of the 8 jury votes. The lone vote came from Cynthia, who was in the house up until the very end and didn’t get to hear the way Todrick spoke of others behind their back. Miesha’s $250,000 win is a testament to her honesty, good-heartedness, and her competition skills.
However, that’s not the only prize up for grabs tonight. Every year, America gets to vote on their favorite player, and that person receives a cash prize as well. Carson was America’s favorite houseguest, with Lamar and Shanna receiving the next most votes. Carson pledged to donate a significant portion of this $25,000 prize to his charity, True Colors United.
Final Thoughts on Celebrity Big Brother Season 3 Week 7
While a dominant duo running roughshod over the house isn’t the most entertaining competition television, this cast was a fun and diverse group who truly played hard and made for some great TV moments. It is sad that Lamar, Carson, Todd, Cynthia, or Shanna didn’t make the finals, but the final two spots were certainly occupied by the houseguests who played the hardest, and it’s hard to fault them for that.
Fortunately for CBS reality TV junkies, our withdrawal time will be short, as Survivor comes back on March 9th, and the standard version of Big Brother will be back this summer!
