AEW Dynamite 4/27 kicks off with FTR going one-on-one against each other in an Owen Hart Memorial Qualifying match! CM Punk on commentary as the best tag team in wrestling put on a pure wrestling clinic. Damn, what a match. Dax Harwood gets the pinfall on Cash Wheeler after Dax hesitates on applying the Sharpshooter, is nearly rolled up by Cash but reverses into his own small package rollup for the win.
This is wrestling. If you loved old school, classic wrestling from the 80’s and early 90’s, whether it was WWE (WWF), WCW, or the NWA, this was the match for you. If you are a newer fan who appreciates what the sport of professional wrestling is, this is the match for you.
Dax and Cash put on a story of tribute.
I believe a story has begun. Dax hesitated to use the Sharpshooter. Perhaps he will go on throughout the tourney with attempts to lock it in, and it will be in the finals of the match, Dax finally locks it in to win the trophy.
The Blackpool Combat Club defeats The Factory (QT Marshall, Aaron Solow, Nick Comorrotto).
What an ovation for Wheeler Yuta. Crowd explodes. Great match, even though it was clear the BCC would win, it wasn’t a clear squash. Factory members got their offense in, mostly Comorrotto. Yuta took his fair share of the punishment, but also did his fair share of dishing it out, even being the one to win the match for the trio, by beating down the big burly beast for the pinfall.
Backstage: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and Jamie Hayter banter with Tony Schiavone and Toni Storm, until Ruby Riott joins to even the odds.
Wardlow defeats “Murderhawk” Lance Archer
This was one hell of a hoss fight. An early moment of crazy when Wardlow hits a leaping hurricanrana. I think he ate a cruiserweight and absorbed his power. Again, a match we knew Wardlow would win, but damn was this a battle.
The big shocker later on, MJF on the phone with Wardlow’s mystery opponent for next week is someone who is bigger, smarter, and “you can’t teach that.”
Yep. It may very well be who we think it is!
Jericho Appreciation Society has a “sit down” with Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz
Yet another example why Eddie Kingston is the King of Promos. Jericho and company cut their shtick which was enjoyable. But Santana and Ortiz kicked off their own snarky act with a few flipped birds. Jericho says they’re putting “a hit” out on Eddie and his guys, which HOLY CRAP SETS EDDIE OFF! Eddie proceeds to scare the ever-loving-crap out of Jericho.
Eddie Kingston is the best in the world, I dare anyone to change my mind.
Wouldn’t it be crazy if “Hangman” Adam Page loses the title to CM Punk, who rekindles his feud with Eddie Kingston only to lose the championship to him???
Serena Deeb defeats Hikaru Shida in a Philadelphia Street Fight (NO DQ Match)
Damn what a match this was. The best part of the match, it was so even, there was never a moment to predict who would win. Deeb and Shida could have a match every week and I think we’d all love it. Every match has never been dull nor predictable, and full of some incredible wrestling. Thunder Rosa is shown looking on as Deeb earns the submission victory with Dean Malenko’s Cloverleaf.
Undisputed Elite defeats the team of Varsity Blondes, Dante Martin, Brock Anderson, and “Shotty” Lee Johnson
Eh. Squash. Everyone wears new Undisputed Elite shirts.
AEW Dynamite 4/27 Main Event: Scorpio Sky regains the TNT Championship in a Ladder Match against Sammy Guevara
Not a long match, but it didn’t have to be. An unpredictable outcome for sure. Early on Sammy took a nasty fall, doing some sort of twisting phoenix splash which completely missed and looked as though he parked himself on his head. Thankfully the match continued after the picture-in-picture commercial break where it seemed Sammy was given time to shake off the cobwebs. Tay Conti and Paige VanZandt got involved quite a bit, even jumping on their opponents backs while they were climbing the ladder.
Sky takes a scary bump via Spanish Fly onto a ladder wrapped in Barbed-Wire!! Sammy attempts another leap frog over a ladder, but lightning does in fact strike twice as he eats a cutter all the way down! As Scorpio recovers, Sammy gives him the finger, which the challenger CHOMPS ON!!!! Sammy screams as Sky makes his way up to fight atop the ladder, with Sky sending Sammy into the barbed-wire ladder! Sky is inches away, but Sammy leaps off the ropes and back onto the ladder!! It’s a race! Sammy almost has it! Sky takes him down! Sammy is down and SCORPIO SKY GRABS THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!
