Pop Break Live: Peach Pit ‘Right Down the Street Tour’ with Sunflower Beam at The Fillmore Philly on December 18, 2022
Christmas came early for fans at Philly’s Fillmore on Wednesday night as Canadian band Peach Pit delivered an exceptional set to an extremely enthusiastic packed house. The band has been turning heads since 2017 with their breakthrough album Being So Normal. This show was the next to the last stop on their hugely successful Right Down the Street Tour. They are touring in support of their critically acclaimed album From 2 to 3, released on March 2nd.
Opening the show was the New York based trio, Sunflower Bean. The band has quite a following in this area and their fans were out in force. They put on an impressive performance and it really set the tone for what would turn out to be a very memorable night for this crowd.
Peach Pit started the night off with a move that was not very traditional at shows. Lead singer Neal Smith flung himself into the crowd when the band came out on stage and crowd surfed. The place went wild! It was quite an opening as the band kicked into “Raining Blood,” a song from 80’s metalheads Slayer. They are really a fun band to watch. You could really tell they were enjoying themselves up on stage. There were hair flips, over the top shredding and old school antics and showmanship during the night. These guys are the real deal. What an incredibly talented group of musicians.
The band played a 21 song set. Smith told the crowd they started night off with a bang but warned them over the next seven songs they may be lulled into a sleep. After they were done he asked they crowd if they had lost anyone. It was a funny moment. The fans were treated to a bunch of new songs off their latest release which included “Up Granville,” “Pepsi on the House,” Vicki,” and “Look Out.” There were some deep cuts from 2016’s Sweet FA that included “Drop The Guillotine” and “Peach Pit.” Some standouts were “Shampoo Bottles” and “Alrighty Aphrodite”. Even though this tour ended on the December 15 the band already has some new dates for 2023. Honestly, this is a must see band.
