Ari Lennox ‘Age-Sex-Location’ Tour at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday March 18, 2023.
Singer-Songwriter Ari Lennox stopped in at Philly’s Fillmore on 3/18 for a sold out show. This sultry songstress is touring in support of her newest album, Age-Sex-Location, released on September 9th last year. It’s the follow-up to her highly acclaimed debut album, Shea Butter Baby, released on J.Cole’s label Dreamsville in 2019. Her sound/style has been described as R&B, neo-soul and a little bit of of old school. The tour, which kicked off in January wrapped up in her hometown of Washington DC on March 28.
Fans started lining up way before the doors opened at 7pm just to get up front and center. The show has been sold out for months. Having grown up on the east coast, she has a lot of fans in the Tri-State area.
Lennox started the night off behind a curtain with the “A/S/L Interlude.” When the curtain opened, it revealed a neon sign with her name on the backdrop. The crowd screamed. It was a pretty stage setup with soothing purple and pink lights that changed during the set. Lennox was backed by a great all-female band and three backup singers. This predominately female crowd sang along from the start to finish. Her vocals were stunning and hypnotic at times and she also slayed with her wardrobe changes.
The set list was a nice mix of songs from her catalog which included “I Been,” “Waste My Time,” “Boy Bye,” “POF” and “Queen Space.” When Lennox addressed the crowd during the night, she came off extremely humbled to be where she is. She mentioned her connections to Philly and thanked her fans for their support. She had great chemistry with the crowd and it definitely felt like it was a mutual love affair. It was a truly memorable performance for her fans, who sang their hearts out all night long! All the accolades she has received over the last few years are well deserved.
