ROH TV Episode 10 Review: You Still Got It

After an interesting episode of ROH TV last week, it is a brand new week which means more content to review. ROH TV Episode 10 flowed a lot better than last week but a lot of the same problems remained.

Pure Rules Match: Lee Moriarty vs Rocky Romero: They put a lot less emphasis on this pure rules match than any of the other pure rules matches they have done in the past. They did not put the timer graphic or any of the rope break graphics as well as them not having judges. Other than that this match was fine Moriarty and Romero are now tied at one apiece, so surely this is going to lead to a rubber match at some point.

Winner: Rocky Romero

ROH Women’s World Title Proving Grounds Match: Athena vs Angelina Risk: Another proving grounds match. The interesting thing is on commentary Nigel McGuinness mentioned a lot of AEW Women who we may see in ROH at some point down the line such as Jade Cargill, Jamie Hayter, and The Outcasts. I talk about this every week Athena is just so dominant right now this is some of her best work.

Winner: Athena

After the match, Athena continued to beat down Risk including doing her Skye Blue’s finishing move.

ROH World Television Championship: Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels: These two have apparently wrestled 92 other times before this according to Ian Riccaboni, wow. This means these two have chemistry as seen in the 93rd time these two have competed against each other. Joe remains the dominant king of television, to whoever steps up to Joe next, good luck.

Winner: “And Still” Samoa Joe

ROH World Heavyweight Championship: Claudio Castagnoli vs Robbie Eagles: The partnership with New Japan continues to thrive in ROH. Eagles are in TMDK, a faction within New Japan that includes NJPW TV Champion Zack Sabre JR. This was my first time watching Eagles compete and he did not disappoint. The only thing is that this was a world title match and there was no build to this at all. This match was practically just announced and that was all if the ROH World Heavyweight Championship continues to have pointless feuds and matches that ruin the value of the title. Besides this Eagles was impressive but given how dominant Castagnoli has been especially on Dynamite, there was no way we were crowning a new champion.

Winner: “And Still” Claudio Castagnoli

Skye Blue Promo: Blue calls out Athena and says that she is a bully, and she disrespects every single woman that is in the AEW locker room. Blue also challenges Athena to a one-on-one match for the ROH Women’s Championship!

The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) & The Varsity Athletes (Josh Woods, Tony Nese, & Ari Davari) vs Stu Grayson, Action Andretti, Darius Martin, & Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta): There should never be more than a six-man tag team match in wrestling unless there is a reasonable explanation. There was no reasonable explanation for this, there were too many people with too many moving parts not a fan of this. This continues to prove my point from last week, ROH is doing things just to do them. The only continuing storyline here was Andretti Martin & The Kingdom. Vincent and Dutch made their way to the ring halfway through to continue to recruit Stu Grayson as the rest of the Dark Order tried to stop him. Big win for Andretti here.

Winners: Stu Grayson, Action Andretti, Darius Martin, & Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent Baretta)

Athena Promo: Athena laughs at Blues championship challenge and she shoos off Dasha Kuret from the interview. Athena says Blue is not worthy of beating her for this title. She vows to embarrass Blue and show that she does not belong in either the AEW locker room or the ROH Women’s locker room.

Rich Adonis vs Preston Vance: For what was supposed to be a squash match, Adonis got a lot of offense throughout this match. Vance continues to gain some dominance on ROH Tv over the last couple of weeks. I don’t know exactly what this is leading to for Vance, but he got a W and that is all that matters.

Winner: Preston Vance

Action Andretti & Darius Martin Promo: They are both excited to get the win until the Kingdom attacks them from behind. This segment included a funny but where Bennett grabs the phone to call Dante for help, but screams oh wait he is still hurt. The Kingdom stand tall as they leave Andretti and Martin in the dust, this one is not over folks.

Skye Blue vs Robyn Renegade: This match was fun! Too young women just trying to prove themselves within the ROH Women’s division. Blue remains undefeated in ROH as she has her eyes set on Athena and that ROH Women’s Championship.

Winner: Skye Blue

Brian Cage vs Brock Anderson: Another undefeated wrestler within ROH is Brian Cage. I still don’t understand why they keep giving him singles matches every single week, but he keeps killing it every week. It seems as if they are building him up to gain some singles gold in the near future, maybe he is the one to defeat Castagnoli for the ROH World Heavyweight Championship. Anderson also is the perfect fit for ROH so he can continue to improve and own his craft with some of the best in the world. Unfortunately, he was not going to defeat one-third of the ROH Six-Man Champions.

Winner: Brian Cage

Willow Nightingale vs Steph De Lander: Three women’s matches on an episode of ROH are always a good thing. Riccaboni still raps to Nightingale’s entrance song which is one of the funniest things every week on ROH TV. De Lander has been killing it all year on the independent scene and she has definitely made a name for herself. She also proved herself with this match with Nightingale and had a lot of offense, she is someone I would love to see continue to be in the ROH Women’s division. Nightingale continues her winning ways and goes 6-0 as she climbs toward the ranks for a future ROH Women’s Championship shot.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Angelico vs Komander: This was not the match I was expecting to main event, especially because Angelico is essentially a jobber in AEW. Komander however is making his presence known within both AEW & ROH. The great thing about this match is that it was very fast-paced, meaning this match was a lot better than I expected. Komander continues to prove why he has been a smart hire as he is victorious in his first ROH TV match.

Winner: Komander

After the match, Serpentico beat down Komander as Orange Cassidy and Bandino ran and make the save.

ROH TV Episode 10 Overall Thoughts:

This episode was a lot better than last week, however, we still have long ways to go. A lot of these matches still did not make a lot of sense and hopefully with their return to Orlando this past weekend it will also make the fans more engaged in the ROH product.
