The AEW audience has not seen Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D since September 16, 2023 when she lost to TBS Champion Kris Statlander at her alma mater, Penn State University. Baker has been out with an injury and although we do not have an update on her return, there are so many new things for her to do! With the additions of Mercedes Mone to the roster, a timeless champion running rampant, and proving that the AEW Women’s roster is one of the best in wrestling today. So, here are five things Baker can do once returning to AEW.
One Common Enemy
Besides a big Mone addition to the roster, one of Baker’s real life friends has also joined the AEW roster in Deonna Purrazzo. Over the last couple of weeks Purrazzo has been feuding with Thunder Rosa, who she got the win over on the Double or Nothing Buy In. Meaning that Purrazzo cheated to win the match, it is only a matter of time before the two clash again so we can see a fair winner. Rosa and Baker have so much history, from the first women’s steel cage match in AEW as well as their famous lights out match during the pandemic. One of the easiest ways to implement Baker back on AEW is aligning her with Purrazzo to take out Rosa. I mean, don’t we all want the Baker Purrazzo team anyway?
A Timeless Champion:
Now, it has been two years since Britt Baker has held gold in AEW and the Women’s World Heavyweight Championship scene has changed drastically. The new Timeless Toni Storm character has yet to interact with Baker and can you imagine the promos these two can cut against each other. I am not saying that Baker should be the one to take the title off of Storm, however this should be a match that AEW should look into having while Storm is still Timeless.
The Killer and The Pillar:
Besides Baker being out, former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter has also been out for a year with a shoulder injury. Baker and Hayer were a duo throughout Hayter’s championship reign and the last time the two were on TV together they were still aligned. Ultimately this was leading to the eventual split and the much anticipated match between the two former champs. No matter if they come back as foes or friends this idea should also be revisited when they are both healthy enough to come back to TV. This also aligns with my personal theory that AEW is waiting for both of them to be healthy before returning, but that’s for a different story for a different day.
Two Time Tournament Winner:
Baker has had her fair share of making history within AEW. From being the first female wrestler signed, the first women to main event Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision, the only women to compete at both All Ins and more! One of the more recent historic accomplishments she achieved was being the first woman to win the Owen Hart Tournament in 2022 alongside Adam Cole. One way that AEW can bring her back to TV is having her compete in the tournament. Similar to my point about Storm, I am not saying she has to win the tournament again, but she can have a nice run in the tournament to give her the reps that she needs to return to TV full time. Especially for my final and most important point.
A Mone Main Event:
If you were to ask Britt Baker who inspired her while she was training to be a wrestler she would say any member of the four horsewomen in WWE. A year ago when Mone was first a free agent Baker had said that she wanted to face Mone and assist in her coming to AEW. Not only will this be a huge dream match for many fans in AEW, but it could lead to an historic event for the women’s division in AEW. Many fans have been wondering when the first women’s pay-per-view main event would be, and if and when this match comes to fruition this may be it. The promos these two can cut and the amount of people that will be invested this should be the match to do it and hopefully it happens sooner than later.
