TV Break September 2024: Pachinko Season 2, Kaiju no. 8, NFL Hard Knocks, and 2024 Emmy Preview

Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break’s Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television.

On today’s show, we be doing things a LITTLE differently. As Green Day once said, summer has come and passed, the innocent can never last, and, as it turns out, great new shows can never last either, so in lieu of a new series spotlight this month, we have dared each other to watch a recent favorite of our own, including Apple TV+’s Pachinko Season 2, HBO’s Hard Knocks: Off-Season with The New York Giants, and Crunchyroll’s Kaiju no. 8.

That’s right, all is good and right in the world and the Emmy’s have returned to their rightful place at the start of September where they will be largely ignored in favor of Sunday Night Football. After Hollywood’s strikes had pushed last year’s Emmy’s into January, making 2024 the rare year where two Emmy’s telecasts technically took place.

To celebrate, we will be bringing back our annual tradition of skipping the Streaming Wars and instead crafting a Program of the Year category out of all the series nominated for best series in this years awards. We will also discuss some of the big storylines to look out for if you chose to check out this year’s telecast on Sunday September 15th on ABC.
