Boom goes the AEW Dynamite 11/6/24! Yay for the silly catchphrase!
Lots of twists and turns, surrpises and more as the build to Full Gear continues. With weeks away matches are made and feuds are boiling over. The feud between Kyle Fletcher and Will Ospreay heats up with the return of Powerhouse Hobbs and the sudden inclusion of Adam Cole is a bit of a head scratcher but perhaps the payoff will come later.
The Hurt Syndicate opens the show with an in-ring promo. Crowd is very into it. The short end of the segment is MVP teasing recruiting younger guys into the stable. Accepting will change your life, but rejecting may end it. There are lots of wrestlers who could benefit from MVP as a cornerman. However, Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana arrive, and all Swerve says is “Lashley, Full Gear.”
MVP accepts the challenge. The segment worked because it was short and directly to the point. A segment like this does not need to be drawn out, make the match, build the fight.
Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin vs. Claudio Castagnoli and PAC went to a No Contest
A no contest finish is uncommon, however, the Death Riders are not really invested in wins and losses, they’re just out to inflict damage, and damage they did. Before the match ended, both teams put on a fantastic wrestling match, convincingly both sides were even. Anyone expecting the Death Riders to be dominating were likely surprised at how often Freshly Squeezed and the human death wish managed to constantly fight back and never give up.
The intervention of the Conglomeration was not enough to save the day. however, this led to our next match of the night. Before the match was underway, backstage the Hurt Syndicate approach Ricochet. They keep teasing some business, but it seems he is not interested in joining.
The Conglomeration (Ishii, O’Reilly, Briscoe) defeated The Learning Tree (Jericho, Big Bill, Keith) in a Match Without Honor
This was a match full of plunder, and was a hell of a lot of fun. I enjoy multi-man matches in which anything goes. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoy a little fun here and there. Kyle O’Reilly is a standout in every match he’s in. He’s going to be known as another workhorse easily. Ishii hitting the brainbuster finisher on Jericho looked brutal. It seems he will be the next challenger for the Ring of Honor World Championship.
Lots of table spots, broken lumber everywhere. if we get this Ring of Honor title match at Full Gear, I will be happy
Adam Cole defeated Malakai Black
I’m a big fan of Black, so it’s a little bit of a bummer to go into this match knowing he was going to lose. I get the deal is that three wins are needed to face MJF at the pay-per-view, but it also means your jobbing some of the company’s strongest people. It was a decent match, but they were way too many parts of the match where it seemed like they were slowing down way too often, or slow down a little too much to keep up with each other. maybe they’re both still not completely 100%? The ending also seemed a little strange, where black allowed coal to hit his finishing move. nice hug and show respect after the match. Very uncharacteristic of the dark brooding stable members to do this two weeks in a row.
After the match it’s revealed that it could be a potential three-way dance at the Pay-Per-View. next week, Adam Cole must face Takeshita to win the series. Really? you’re going to job out the International champion?
What was clearly a pre-taped segment, MJF gets on the phone and says to someone to put a plan into action. Later on it is revealed that MJF wants the Callis Family to take out Adam Cole, big dude offering the dynamite diamond ring and a big stack of cash to kick off the bounty.
It’s weird to see a slight pivot for a stable to suddenly get dragged into another feud, but it’s not the first time it’s happened.
Next up for a whole bunch of Backstage segments. These segments were simply meant to build up feuds, rivalries, and a few teases going forward. Jay White started an interview backstage and then was attacked by Adam Page. Troll all over the place. That’ll lead to another match at full gear. Kris Statlander almost gets hit by a car driven by Mercedes Mone and Kamille. Once again Mercedes berates Camille for failing to get the job done, we get a parking lot brawl where the champion is laid out. Not really sure what this accomplishes other than making the champion look weaker than she already does.
Back in the ring the patriarchy Cuts their promo, involving Christian Cage praising Kip Sabian for taking the initiative and joining their group, and then proceeds to run down Nick Wayne berating him for failing. It seems that with the absence of Luchasaurus, Nick Wayne now has to fulfill the role of being the loser lackey. it’s kind of a shame though it comes down to that you don’t really need to do that to Nick Wayne, but I guess somebody has to be the scrub to get beat up on.

Hook and comes out to face Christian Cage, the latter of whom stating he wants hook to join his stable, and to be the best father ever. Cage caps it off by saying he wishes Taz were actually dead so he could adopt Hook legally. This does not sit well and thus causes yet another brawl.
Christian gets natural heat, he’s in his best form ever.
Jamie Hayter defeated Penelope Ford
I enjoy women’s wrestling, but the purpose of this feud was a little lackluster. Penelope Ford should have been given a bigger spotlight being that you just came back from a two-year hiatus. I get somebody has to do the job, I just wish it wasn’t Ford.
Before the main event, a promo package highlighting the upcoming Continental Classic Tournament, highlighting Okada has been Champion for a long time and will participate in the tournament.
Main Event: Ricochet & Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Konoske Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher
Ricochet bring out a very angry Powerhouse Hobbs as his tag team partner was brilliant. Very happy to see the VERY big guy back from injury. Ricochet hyped up the reveal by claiming his partner is a “former member” of the Don Callis Family and is pissed off everyone forgot about him. Probably speaks to some reality where he got injured and dropped off the map quietly. Hobbs looks fantastic back in the ring, no ring rust evident at all.
Great spot where Hobbs and Ricochet look like they are gearing up for a double shoulder tackle, and you have to wonder how that’ll work. They made it work, Ricochet stops to pose while Hobbs mows Fletcher down.
Speaking of Fletcher, it appears they are trying very hard to make him stand out on his own. My only issue is many of his mannerisms look like a certain legend killer’s. Also, 1995 HBK called, he wants his entrance gear back.
Great match, and surprising to see Takeshita eat the pinfall with Ricochet as the winner. I imagine this could set up an International Title match in the near future.
After the match, all hell breaks loose with Brian Cage and Lance Archer storming the ring, but Hobbs and Ricochet are backed up by Adam Cole and the returning Will Ospreay! Big time brawl breaks out.
Next week, Adam Cole faces Konosuke Takeshita, and if he wins, he faces MJF at Full Gear. Will they really have Cole go over the champion? Will Takeshita lose two weeks in row? I imagine lots of interference will be had.
But one burning question remains… Who was that big dude delivering MJF’s message to Callis?
