Pop Break Live: Iron Maiden ‘The Future Past World Tour 2024’ with The Hu at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday November 9, 2024
Iron Maiden always delivers.
The band has been delivering epic heavy metal anthems to the masses since 1975 (with lead singer Bruce Dickinson at the helm since 1981 to 1993 and then 1999 to the present day).
On Saturday November 9, 2024 the band took the stage at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey as a part of their ‘The Future Past World Tour 2024.’ The band rocked the packed arena with a main set that saw classic cuts like “Can I Play with Madness” and “Iron Maiden” to new tracks off their 2021 Senjutsu record — “Death of the Celts” and “Days of Future Past.”
The encore was the stuff of legend with a with “Hell on Earth” from the aforementioned Senjutsu then a duo of all-timers “Wasted Years,” and “The Trooper.”
Bruce Dickinson’s iconic voice was on full display and it’s wild to think how this man, who’s in his mid-60s, can still wail with the same operatic abandon that we heard on vinyl during the band’s seminal album run in the ’80s. The band — Steve Harris (bass, backing vocals, keyboard), Dave Murray (guitars), Adrian Smith (guitars), Nicko McBrain (drums) and Janick Gers (guitars) — still plays with the same velocity and ferocity that made them legends. Of course the band’s mascot Eddie was on stage — this time donning a post apocalyptic gunslinger outfit.
Opening for Iron Maiden was The HU — the almighty Mongolin folk-metal band. Gala, Jaya, Enkush and Temka have carved a name out for themselves by implementing traditional Mongolian instruments like the morin khuur and the tovshuur and using Mongolian throat signing
throughout their tracks. They are a band that is one of those “you need to see them to believe” how good they are.
