Pop Break Live: Alex Sampson at The Foundry at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA on February 7, 2025
Canadian singer-songwriter Alex Sampson played the Foundry (located at The Fillmore) in Philadelphia, PA on Friday 7, 2025.
This 24-year old budding star gained popularity on TikTok with his cover songs and original song, “Stay Here.” He also competed on Season 19 of America’s Got Talent (which aired in 2024) and wowed the judges, audience and viewers with a few original songs. That opportunity really opened up some doors for him. He released his critically acclaimed EP Hopeless Romantic a few months ago.
Sampson was met with screams from the predominately female audience the minute he stepped out onto the stage. Yeah, he’s that charismatic. He opened with “Wallflower,” a song he performed in the semi-finals on AGT. There was a palpable chemistry between Sampson and the audience right from the get go. He asked the crowd if they liked the band One Direction and they screamed. He then played an impressive cover of the group’s hit song “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful.” The place was jumping at this point. This was a very vocal enthusiastic crowd who danced, swayed and sang along during his set. He treated fans to a new song which he said had not been released yet called “Should’ve Stayed Friends.” It had a very catchy melody and chorus, just like the rest of the songs he writes. It literally sounded radio ready. Another highlight was his original song that the crowd was waiting for, “Pretty Baby,” which has the sweetest lyrics. It was the song that captivated the judges on AGT.
Sampson closed his set with “Blind.” He really put on an impressive concert. This humble hopeless romantic with a voice that could steal your heart has pop star written all over him. No Joke!
