The war rages on! Last issue the forces of Glasstor and the Space Sharks truce was shattered by an assassination attempt, and now the whole galaxy is in peril! It seems as the war continues, the effects ripple to nearby planets as trade routes are cut off, supply lines severed, worlds tremble at the thought of the firepower reaching them.
It’s amazing to see the fear produced on a galactic level. If we are seeing but just a fraction of the power both worlds possess, they could be formidable enemies in the future. Initially shown in the last issue, but now on full display, it seems the inhabitants of both worlds have elemental abilities which are amplified by technology and military firepower.
Jace is imprisoned, Jan takes a different approach to discovering the truth, while Space Ghost must rely on sheer guts and determination to stop a war from engulfing the galaxy. The issue highlights some very important shifts in personality. When we first met Jace and Jan, they were “the kids” who were orphans, but not helpless. We’ve seen very specific personality traits emerge over time, and the past few issues certainly highlight the idea, Jace and Jan are not the kids they once appeared.
Unless I am reading into the storytelling more than necessary, but it would appear Space Ghost is gradually becoming tired of having to constantly resort to brute force in conflict. While he is a skilled fighter, it seems there may be another part of him wanting to experience something more. I do not want to spoil anything, but the final panels of the issue certainly show a side of S.G. longing to be free.
Antagonists are revealed and a bigger threat continues to loom over the galaxy. Hopefully Space Ghost and his team are up for the challenge.
Massive praise has to go to Jonathan Lau, Andrew Dalhouse, and Taylor Esposito. Providing some absolutely epic visuals on this issue. It’s one big bright boom after another. There is a graphic intensity which escalates as the battle progresses, excellently portraying the story David Pepose lays out for us readers to enjoy.
