We ain’t talkin’ ’bout love, we’re talking about David Lee Roth live at The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, New Jersey on Friday night June 5.
The setting was perfect for Diamond Dave’s big tour. The weather had broken from the sweltering humidity plaguing the weekend. A golden sunset (which DLR and the band acknowledged during their set) spiked through the picture-perfect blue sky. The man himself took the stage with a million-dollar smile and a highball glass of whiskey.
The 71-year-old frontman was in incredible spirits and impeccable shape. He and his incredible band ripped through a catalog of Van Halen classics like “Panama,” “Jump,” “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,” and “Everybody Wants Some,” among many others. The stamina David Lee Roth has was incredible as he brought high energy to every song while the band absolutely ripped through the classic VH songs.
In between sets Dave laughed and joked with his band and the audience, even stopping to take pics with the audience.
