Fresh off an epic All In, AEW has a massive lineup for AEW Dynamite 9/2/26 in Texas. We will hear from new champions, new champions in action. Will Ospreay made headlines all over the world with his championship win. AEW has made headlines with the epic-level presentation of All In, the promo packages, the entrances, fans being left with the thrilling feeling of loving professional wrestling.
The show opens with Will Ospreay delivering a passionate promo with humility and dedication, in appreciation of Kenny Omega. You can tell Ospreay feels the business and seems to genuinely enjoy doing what he does best. His promo felt classy, respecting others who have held the World Championship, individuals whom he looks up to.
Ospreay had a great line: “My idols are now my rivals.”
Ospreay caps the promo by citing how he and Omega are 2-2. If Omega is fine with that record, being equals, then so is he. However, if Omega is not content, then let’s get one more in there, sending the Texas live crowd into a frenzy. He also announces that while United Empire is a stable in New Japan, he is going to start a branch in AEW. Yes, please. Where can I sign up?
He was interrupted by Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Ricochet initially praises Ospreay and compliments their rivalry over the years. However, he wants to claim the first opportunity. Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors come out for the same reason. Before they can ambush Ospreay in the ring, Callum Newman, Francesco Akira, and Henare back up Ospreay. Tonight’s main event will be a 5-on-5.
AEW World Trios Champions The New Level (Swerve, Kofi, “Awesome” Austin Creed) defeated The Rascalz
What an opener, and what a Dynamite debut match for Kofi and Creed. They look like they’ve got a second wind in them, pulling off maneuvers I have never seen before. The Rascalz threw everything at them. All six simply put on a stellar match. Reed’s over-the-ropes cutter is always insane, but tonight he added a hurricanrana mid-flight.
Swerve is in a very good spot with Kofi and Creed. Prince Nana gets to dance again. All feels right with the New Level.
As they leave, the Young Bucks head out for their segment. The two teams have a staredown. In the ring, the Bucks vent their disdain for how they lost, wondering if Cage and Cope were satisfied with how they retained the championships. Instead, FTR with Stokely hit the ring, making fun of the Bucks for complaining about losing. However, Cage and Cope hit the stage, and while Christian runs down both teams, Cage offers an idea for a title match, a triple threat match at All Out, which would involve chairs, tables, and yes, there will be ladders.
Backstage: Callum tells Ospreay he’s found a fifth man. It’s a man who was in United Empire for a short while… Andrade.
Darby Allin retains the TNT Championship against Mark Davis
Davis brutalized Darby from the start. It seems, lately, when Darby rides his skateboard to the ring, he gets blasted from out of nowhere. Davis is a big bad brute. Throwing Darby all over the place, a back body drop had an extra rotation where it seemed certain he had broken both legs. Darby takes so much punishment, yet was able to outsmart Davis on a near-countout, as he struggled to dive in before the ten count, to strike with not one but two Coffin Drops for the win. After the match, RPG Vice ambushed the champ, but were chased off by Steve Borden. However, a returning Josh Alexander struck and with the help of Mark Davis, ate a massive piledriver.
Mark Davis is the current King of Piledrivers.
Borden’s dropkick is unreal. He nearly missed by almost jumping over Rocky Romero’s head. Okada might be getting jealous.
Megan Bayne defeated AEW Women’ s Tag Team Champion Alex Windsor
Windsor and Bayne had a great match, but to be honest, Bayne continues to have the more dominant and imposing presence. Each woman threw each other with suplexes and massive slams. However, Bayne took the low road by knocking Windsor in the head with the title belt, followed up with a Mega Bomb for the win.
It seems their feud continues on. It makes sense, Bayne and Kross aren’t going to go to the back of the line just yet.
Backstage: Jericho and Nick Wayne have words, which turns to fighting, surprisingly, Wayne came out of it dominantly. I do like seeing Jericho staying on the undercard, taking on younger or other wrestlers to give them a push. Nick Wayne will greatly benefit from a feud with Jericho.
Backstage: MJF loses his damn mind. A crazy MJF is an entertaining but also dangerous MJF.
Mercedes Mone Celebrates
As usual, a championship victory means a celebration for the CEO. Wait, what? No cake this time? Perhaps she’s learned her lesson or has PTSD. She initially comes off as grateful and motivational, but then turns vindictive, vile, and vicious as she runs down Willow Nightingale. Her tirade is suddenly interrupted by presumably Drunk Thekla. Which is the best promo-cutting type of Thekla. It would be better if they don’t collide so soon, as the promos they could put on would be pretty entertaining. Thekla rhymed a bit and at times sounded like improv poetry.
Thekla is excellent at intimidating while amusing. There is no doubt Mercedes vs. Thekla is going to be a big draw, which is why AEW would be smart to keep the teases alive and not go for the title match right away.
Jon Moxley defeated AR Fox
Decent match. Fox got to razzle dazzle with his mind-boggling agility, but there wasn’t really any doubt about Mox winning.
Backstage: Dr. Britt Baker, DMD and Persephone cut a promo, putting the women’s locker room on notice. It’s really, really great to see the DMD back on TV. Putting her in Persephone’s corner is a smart idea, gets Baker back on TV, Persephone is already viewed as a major threat, having the Doctor in her corner, it adds to the intimidation level.
United Empire defeated The Demand and The Dogs
Perfect main event. Very much evoked the feeling of a NJPW multi-man tag match. The pacing and flow was damn near perfection. Callum Newman got the majority of the pops throughout the closer. Fans who have never seen him live were in for the biggest treat. The guy’s speed is unreal. Henare vs. Liona needs to happen more often. While there were moments it seemed as though too much was happening, all 10 wrestlers somehow kept the pace going fast but not blindingly where viewers didn’t know what or who was flying. Andrade clobbered Connors and set up Ospreay to hit the Hidden Blade for the win. Andrade and Ospreay appeared to have a respectful code of honor as the show closed, until Gabe Kidd lost his damn mind and laid waste to everyone. He was about to crush Ospreay with a chair until…
… The Death Riders arrived. Kidd assumed they were there to back him up, except they were there to back up Ospreay! Mox takes the chair away from Kidd who leaves. Mox hands the world title to Ospreay and gives a respectful embrace. That is, until a collectible gasp from the crowd is heard, where Mox and Ospreay stare in horror at the big screen. The Main Event of All Out will be Will Ospreay defending the championship against Jon Moxley.
The facial expressions were spot-on, the camera work even better. Whoever did the cameras at All In and one Dynamite need raises.
What an excellent follow up to a great PPV event. Once more, AEW has found their stride and continues to pace everything has manageable as possible.
