After the 5Star Grand Prix concluded, tons of matches were set up for this show that happened on September 12. Stardom To The World featured titles on the line, grudges settled, and some huge violence in the main event. Let’s focus on the stars on display by reviewing this big Stardom show, live from the Yokohama Budokan.
God’s Eye (Lady C & Kiyoka Kotatsu) v. STARS (Saya Iida & Matoi Hamabe) – Pre-Show Tag
Lady C and Saya Iida’s interactions in this match were calling back to their 5Star showdown. That muscle, man. Iida is special. Since this was the pre-show, everyone in this match must have held back from going all out. Understandable, as Lady C got the win for God’s Eye to end a serviceable match. Inconsequential, but cool.
H.A.T.E. (Fukigen Death, Ruaka, & Konami) v. Waka Tsukiyama, HANAKO, & Utami Hayashishita v. Mi Vida Loca (Itsuki Aoki & Rina Yamashita) & Saori Anou – 3-Way Trios Tag
Usually, the crowd can only take so much comedy wrestling before they grow restless, but this one was a lot of fun. Fukigen Death only wants to read the magazine dammit, give her some place to sit already! Some trios teaming on all sides led to Anou teaming with MVL and actually enjoying herself while doing it. All this fun insanity finished when HANAKO pinned Fukigen for the unnamed trio victory. There was more comedy in this one compared to the rest of the night, but not un-welcomed in its silly nature.
FWC (Hazuki & Koguma) & Fuwa-chan v. Itoh Respect Army (Maki Itoh, Kikyo Furusawa, & Rian) – 6-Woman Tag
Rian loved stomping the feet of every opponent here, and that strategy was certainly influential towards the rest of the Itoh Army. Unfortunately it was influential towards Koguma too, bear-pawwing her way through the competition with a beautiful smile on her face. For all the praise Hazuki normally gets in the ring, she really didn’t do much in this match. The only notable thing she did was get the rollup win out of nowhere. Ironically out of the Itoh Army, I enjoy Kikyo Furusawa more than Maki Itoh, sorry not sorry. It’s those damn Ankle Locks, they’re too creative.
Bea Pristley v. Anne Kanaya
This match stemmed from a previous singles match between the two where Kanaya broke Pristley’s nose and medically disqualified her from the 5Star. Thus, revenge time came calling for Pristley. While Pristley isn’t the best in the world, she definitely looked like a hardass in that ring. Her sustained beating of Anne Kanaya got me wincing with how hard she was hitting. Definitely better than Julia Hart, I’ll give her credit. Either that or Kanaya is just a terrific seller and bumper.
Pristley won decisively here, leaving no room for a possible Kanaya comeback. While the offense here was good, it was a bit too one-sided to be a believable back-and-forth match.
Devil Princess (Rina & Azusa Inaba) v. God’s Eye (Syuri & Hina) – Tag
How curious of the 5Star Grand Prix winner to compete in a tag match against the IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri. I’d quite like to see that singles match in the future. In a pairing of two halves, Rina and Hina would strike each other in the head for minutes while Syuri punked out Inaba for an unfair amount of time. Did we need confirmation or reassurance to put Syuri over? We already know how powerful she is!
Syuri got the win by pinning Inaba here, finishing a relatively quick match with God’s Eye standing strong. What a pretty good match with an underwhelming ending, all things considered.
Ranna Yagami (c) v. Akira Kurogane – Future of Stardom Championship
It’s normal for a Stardom title match to be hard-hitting, but that point came with an exclamation in this one. Kurogane became such an underdog against the striking fire from Yagami. The action balanced out well as Kurogane’s half-kimura submission thingy towards the end of this one looked gnarly, I lowkey love it. The time limit almost got reached with how long this one went, and I’m glad they gave these two ladies time to show their workings.
In the end, Ranna Yagami would pin and defeat Kurogane to capture her TENTH defense of the Future Title. My heart feels for Kurogane, always being a bridesmaid and never a bride with her win/loss record since my watching of Stardom. This match just added to her and Yagami’s list of good showcases though. Among a sea of established stars, these two are shining brightly so early in their careers.
Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Julia Hart, & Skye Blue) (c) v. Cosmic Angels (Natsupoi, Aya Sakura, & Yuna Mizumori) – Artist of Stardom Championships
After ToM’s besting of God’s Eye to win these Artist (Trios) Titles, they were made clear as a big threat to everyone, including a retiring Natsupoi. The Thekla and Natsupoi interactions in this match featured tension you could feel in the atmosphere. Aside from those two great workers working greatly, this defense felt disjointed at times. The constant running in and breaking up of pinfalls made contrived false finishes quite common. Still, some double and triple teaming from both sides were always a treat to witness.
The end of this match saw Skye Blue gain the pinfall win for the Triangle of Madness and title retentions. Seems annoying to have the AEW people win the day in the end again, but it makes sense to not have Natsupoi gain any titles ahead of her retirement coming up in January. Curse that toxic spider and her Sisters of Sin. After the bout concluded by the way, the Triangle were challenged by Hazuki, Koguma, and Fuwa-chan, who were victorious earlier in the night.
02line (AZM & Miyu Amasaki) (c) v. H.A.T.E. (Momo Watanabe & Saya Kamitani) – Goddesses of Stardom Championships
Now we get onto the really good stuff of the night. Right away, the HATE members defaced a Queen’s Quest flag, causing Utami Hayashishita to flip out on the apron. The history between her and Saya Kamitani traces to teammates in QQ, and immense hatred today.
Lore aside, the match started with intense pairings of Kamitani/Amasaki and Momo/AZM sequences. Each pairing was a perfect rival for each other and the double teaming didn’t stop. Especially towards the second half of this match. The drama kept escalating and it got better and better with each nearfall. Several times it looked like the end, all four would fool the audience into keeping the match and energy going. Submissions from AZM looked to rip Momo’s arm off, while Momo smacked AZM in the neck with her bat with the referee distracted.
All of this led to the eventual finish, Momo verbally submitting to AZM, giving the Neo Genesis subgroup the triumphant victory. Up to this point, this was easily the match of the night. It cannot be overstated how good these four are. The speed, power, and agility of all four just led to absolutely fluidity in between those ropes. Even in defeat, Momo and Kamitani look strong too. Great work all around!
Hanan (c) v. Ami Sohrei – Wonder of Stardom Championship
The Wonder Champion has undergone a drastic improvement in her singles wrestling game as of late. Previously only praised as a tag wrestler, she got to showcase some of that solo fire here. Ami Sohrei remained one of the best allrounders on the Stardom roster with her strong offense challenging Hanan greatly. There were lots of landings on the head that weren’t a “hell yeah” kind of landing, more like a “oooh…hope they’re okay” type deal.
These two wrestled in the 5Star and it wasn’t too much of a standout bout for me, but they outpaced that energy and then some here. Hanan would win the day and successfully defend her title, poor Sohrei. Maybe next time. Oh, and the next challenger would come out to confront Hanan post-match. It was none other than….the Violent Freezer, Ruaka. Look, she’s a good wrestler and all, but we couldn’t have a Konami rematch from All Star Grand Queendom?
Suzu Suzuki (c) v. Natsuko Tora, No Disqualification World of Stardom Championship
Let the blood flow! Tora had red facepaint on so it wasn’t entirely visible, but both her and Suzuki were flushed with blood here. The No DQ stip allowed for crazy stuff to go on, including barbed wire bats, staple guns, and the dreaded blue mist. Is blue supposed to be a more damaging mist color than red or black? I was admittedly not a Natsuko Tora fan throughout the 5Star, but with no limitations placed onto her hardcore style, she was finally allowed to be her best self. Many spots with her and Suzuki made both women appear crazy in the head, and there are even more to talk about than the previously mentioned weapons.
Some shoot headbutts, a superplex off a ladder, some chair shots to the head? I mean, they were trying to end each other’s careers here. That camera shot of Suzuki having a blue-misted face while red blood continued to stream down her face was sick. In the end, Suzu Suzuki hit a German Suplex onto Tora onto a pile of chairs for the powerful win and successful title defense. This match satisfied the sicko crowd and ticked boxes to create a hardcore spectacle. Thank goodness for the No DQ stip, which was impromptu as it turned out.

Overall:
This event had some solid title matches with some light-hearted tag matches sprinkled before the real action began. The Goddesses of Stardom and World of Stardom Title matches were both standouts tonight with nothing outright bad in the card. There’s always good wrestling to latch onto when watching Stardom, and that trend raged on with Stardom To The World.
