the newsdesk gets local …
Memorial Day Weekend was a wash-out for most of the Jersey Shore, but tonight (May 31), tomorrow (June 1), and Sunday (June 2) the spirit of the Shore fun will be alive and well in the ‘hip city’ of Red Bank, N.J.
The Red Bank Riverfest (or just River Fest if you’re into the whole brevity thing) will be held at Marine Park and will feature a plethora of crafters, local restaurants and businesses and of course, music. We’ve got a lot of friends who’ll be performing and working the event, so we invite you to check them out as well as take part in doing your own version of ‘restoring the shore.’
Check out Pop-Break favorites like: Matt Scuteri & The Jive Stewards, which features Pop-Break’s own Nick Porcaro on guitar. The band is E-Street in construction and captures a breezier 90s alt-rock vibe, just right for a summertime festival. They hit the Musicians on a Mission Waterfront Stage at 8pm. If you drop in early catch our old friend Brandon Broderick, who’ll be showing off his solo acoustic chops around 5pm.
On Saturday, one of our all-time favorite cover bands, Brian Kirk & The Jirks will be headlining the main stage around 2:15pm. Brian’s done a ton of charity work for the Jersey Shore and is an absolute legend in the scene, his shows are never to be missed.
Then on Sunday, our favorite homegirl, the siren of sultry rock ‘n’ roll Tara Elliott & The Red Velvets brings her impressive pipes to the main stage around 11:30am.
We’d be remiss if we’d mention that our longtime friend, James Caverly and his unique, coffee roastery, Booskerdoo, will be on hand serving up hot and iced versions of his in-house ground and roasted coffee. Think of a microbrew, but with coffee.
