Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Another movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Yeah, I’m already there. –LJF | I dug the first Cap movie, this one will hopefully avoid the sophomore slump. –BB
Rate the Trailer (1-5): Four out of five. This trailer paints an atmosphere that seems a bit dark for a Marvel movie, but all the better. Full of espionage and political intrigue, Captain America: The Winter Soldier looks like a ton of fun but with a good amount of substance behind it. –LJF
Rate the Trailer (1-5): Four out of five. Oh man, am I stoked for this one. The first Captain America was solid, I enjoyed it much more than I would’ve thought. However, this looks even better. I think they really did a great job creating a really intense and rock ‘n’ roll action pic. –BB
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. Starting off the summer early, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the last direct tie to The Avengers 2, which is over a year away. Will the movie explain why the band needs to get back together? What will happen with S.H.I.E.L.D? So many questions, but the main reason I want to see Cap is how different it will be from its predecessor. The tone seems less like a portrait of an all American hero and more of a big-brother type film, tackling issues like the omnipresent government. Could this be Marvel’s Dark Knight? Possibly, and the early buzz is that this movie is excellent, being labeled a “game-changer.” Well that settles it, this is opening weekend fare for sure. –LJF
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. Now, I’m a little worried, despite a promising trailer this film could totally fall into the sophomore slump. Look at Iron Man 2 — kinda weak, but then again Thor 2 was definitely strong. So, there’s a little trepidation there. However, I think Chris Evans is a great superhero and I know he’ll carry his load and then there’s Redford, who is just always amazing. I am really looking forward to get into the theater to enjoy what will be a great popcorn flick. –BB
