There a very few times in life where you get the opportunity to stand in the presence of greatness. I was given that chance a few weeks ago, when I drove up to the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ to see “one of the 25 best bands to come out of Canoga Park in the last 20 years,” Steel Panther! The 80s hair metal parody band is made up of Michael Starr (lead singer), Satchel (guitarist), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums). Whereas most 80s metal alludes to having sex with girls and taking copious amounts of drugs, Steel Panther makes albums full of songs such as “Gangbang at the Old Folks Home,” and “Weenie Ride.” Known for their incredibly explicit lyrics, and impressive musicianship, Steel Panther has been gracing the world with their presence since 2008.
Before they played their incredible show at the Starland Ballroom, I was honored with the chance to not only meet the band, but to also talk to them about their latest album, All You Can Eat, the inspiration for some of their classic songs, and how their journey began.
