Acclaimed songstress Aimee Mann has told Pop-Break some news: Audiences can expect to hear new songs from an album-in-progress when she opens her 2011 tour in New Jersey next month.
The Oscar- and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter will perform in a three-piece band Friday, April 8 at the beautiful, recently restored Forum Theatre in Metuchen.
Mann will also play songs from older albums, her 2008 release @#%&*! Smilers and her forthcoming musical. (She said the musical, which is based on her concept album The Forgotten Arm, is currently “on ice” — and no, she doesn’t mean on ice skates, although that would be awesome.)
In the interview, we talked about the musical, her preference for male attire on stage, and whether Scarlett Johansson and her brother-in-law Sean Penn are dating.
