It warms our hearts to see the great people behind Uncomun returning to the New York City area. Uncomun is a truly awesome festival marrying music and multimedia into one electric night of dancing, singing and just all-around fun. Having experience Uncomun personally in 2008, I can assure this is a night not only of fun, but also of discovering some of the truly great New York artists that might be flying under your radar.
Uncomun was born in 2008 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at Public Assembly (70 North 6th Street – located right by Music Hall of Williamsburg). Six years later it returns to its birthplace, now dubbed Black Bear Bar with a line-up filled with familiar “Uncomun” faces.
Uncomun 2014 will feature sets by dub/reggae/dancehall recording artists Dr. Israel and the amazing Garrison Hawk who are both vocalists in Bill Laswell’s supergroup Method of Defiance.
The 6 hour line-up will also feature live performances by Loud Apartment, Abrazos Orchestra, DJ Ambideckstriks, Uglybraine with members of Evil Giraffes on Mars, Fore, Dana Leon, 6IX9INE ISH & Matt Reeves as well as DJ sets from DJ Engine and Zone.
Beyond music, UNCOMUN 2014 will showcase visual and multi-media art, and will also feature a HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST and of course FREE CANDY.
