Pre-Trailer Thoughts: Despite having a Paddington stuffed animal as a kid, I do not know much about this Peruvian bear. I guess he is popular enough to finally get his own film though. -LJF
Pre-Trailer Thoughts: I loved Paddington when I was a kid. The show always made me want to try orange marmalade (sadly, I never did). -BB
Rate the Trailer: One out of five. I actually looked this movie up on Rotten Tomatoes and couldn’t believe the reviews it has been getting. Apparently this film is something to behold! However, the trailer does NOTHING for it. It is a bear goofing around and causing mayhem; we’ve seen this before. And the CGI on Paddington looks absolutely horrendous. We just had a movie where I found a gun-toting raccoon to look believable. They need the same special effects team apparently. If you are going to do a full length feature about a bear who has human characteristics, make it 100% animated. I have Yogi Bear: the Movie flashbacks going on here. -BB
Rate the Trailer: One out of five. I remember Paddington being much more subdued and…you know, British. He was refined, quite, subtle, funny, fuzzy and heartwarming. This just comes off like a slam bang Americanized version that relies more on Paddington’s mishaps of being a clumsy bear and the “laughs” that’ll come from it. Also, why does Paddington look so much like a real bear instead of the cuddly teddy bear he used to look like? And Nicole Kidman…come on, dude. –BB
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater (but not by choice) . I think I saw somewhere in my classroom or on a professional itinerary that this movie is field trip fodder very soon. So I don’t really have much of a choice. Maybe the movie will surprise me? I sure hope so. I wouldn’t go seek it out otherwise. -LJF

My daughter will only be (roughly) two months old when this comes out and probably on six months old when it hits DVD/VOD, so I might be safe here. Although I could see her requesting this when she’s older. Hopefully I can find the version I watched growing up and can school her on finer children’s programming. –BB
