DC Entertainment has a full slate of hour long drama with five shows on broadcast networks and a sixth on its way to cable. The shows for next season currently include Gotham on Fox, Supergirl on CBS, Arrow, The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow on the CW, and Titans on TNT. So with drama more than adequately covered, DC is stepping into comedy.
NBC has signed a pilot production commitment with A to Z creator Ben Queen for a new workplace comedy, Powerless. The takes place in the DC universe but instead of focusing on the superheroes, will center on the worst insurance agency in America. Powerless is already being compared to The Office, one of NBC’s most famous and popular workplace comedies. The story will focus on the powerless people and the reality of living and working in a world with superheroes and villains.
As of yet, it hasn’t been determined what DC characters will appear, however big names like Batman and Superman are not expected to be included. Powerless expects to keep a tighter focus on the ordinary people who have to live through the mayhem of superheroes and villains.
