The Top 10 Most Horrifying Moments from NBC’s Hannibal

Honorable Mentions

They are many moments that could not make the main list, but it is only right to include them in some form. Here’s a list of just a few honorable mentions, devoid of context and in no particular order:

Hannibal frames Chilton for the deaths of Abel Gideon and several FBI agents

Randall Tier attacks Will and his dogs

Mason Verger removes a pregnant Margot’s uterus

Hannibal leaves Will, Abigail, Jack, and Alana to die

Alana and Margot discover the surrogate mother for Margot’s child

After Dolarhyde stabs Will, Hannibal and Will kill him together

Now, on to the main list.

10. Will and Hannibal catch Garret Jacob Hobbs red-handed

We start the list of with the first episode of the series.

After much investigation into the deaths of several college age girls, the newly acquainted Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) pin the murders on a man named Garret Jacob Hobbs (Vladimir Jon Cubrt). What Will doesn’t know is that Hannibal called Hobbs, warning him that the FBI knows. When Will and Hannibal arrive, Hobbs has already fatally wounded his wife, who lies on the front lawn. As Will enters the house, Hobbs slits his daughter Abigail’s (Kacey Rohl) throat. Will then shoots Hobbs nine times. Luckily, Will and Hannibal are able to save Abigail.

This moment introduced the viewers to just how violent this show was going to get. There’s blood everywhere and the tone is extremely frantic. It’s also the first time Will goes over edge, dishing out much more force than needed. Many viewers at the time might have thought this alone was as violent as the show would get. They were wrong.
