Pop-Ed: Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2016

1. X-Men: Apocalypse

X-men pioster

Release Date: May 27th

Starring: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Oscar Isaac, Evan Peters, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Olivia Munn

Director: Bryan Singer (X-Men: Days of Future Past)

I admit the trailer didn’t blow me away like the first teaser for Days of Future Past, but that’s a tough act to follow.  This is the most consistent superhero franchise we have going right now, and all the stars are aligned for another amazing X-Men movie.  Bryan Singer is back.  The cast.  The villain.  The return of iconic X-Men characters.  While we don’t have Wolverine this time around, it seems inevitable he will cameo at some point to keep his streak of making an appearance in every X-Men film.  There’s even been talk of Quicksilver’s scene topping what he did in Days of Future Past.  I find that hard to believe, but we’ll see.  Speaking of Quicksilver, remember when people flipped out about his look, just as people are now flipping out about Apocalypse.  I wonder how that’s going to work out?  Let’s not forget we have Oscar Isaac playing Apocalypse.  That’s pretty damn awesome.  I could not be more ready for another great X-Men romp.
