Pop-Ed: Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2016

The Movie That Isn’t in My Top Ten, But I’m Obligated to Mention by Law:

Captain America: Civil War

Civil War post

Release Date: May 6th

Starring: Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie

Directors: Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

I admit the trailer looks cool, but I’ve been swindled by the MCU too many times.  Yup.  It looks dark and serious.  Great.  I’ll believe it when I see it.  The Iron Man 3 trailer looked amazing too, and that was nothing but a lame April Fool’s joke.  If they actually play Tony Stark as a villainous character, I’m intrigued, but I don’t trust them.  I still expect that level of kid friendly fun when Captain America and Iron Man finally go at it.  Hey, remember when we were told Ultron was going to be a darker Marvel villain?

I’m also convinced 65% of this movie will be primarily about setting up future Marvel films, just as Age of Ultron was.  Spider-Man.  Black Panther.  The Infinity Gauntlet.  Everyone else can cheer around me.  I’m happy to remain the MCU Grinch.  Leave me alone.
