Eddie’s throat has been slit and he will soon be worm food. That’s right, the first thing we see is our main character dying. Yet, he’s not panicking. He’s calmly holding his neck. He’s even reminiscing on who slit his throat and what led to it. But, not in that whole “life flashing before your eyes” sort of way. Why?
Eddie is the owner of a club where demons aren’t allowed. Wait, demons? You read that right. The Damned is set in a world where crime organizations run wild. Demon family’s trade in human souls. In this issue we get to see some demon’s trying to enjoy a night out in Eddie’s club, The Gehenna Room. Unfortunately for them his club is now exclusive meaning no demons. They don’t enjoy getting asked to leave.
Eddie just so happens to have a special type of curse. He can die. He has died before. But, all he needs to come back from the dead is to touch another living soul and do a swap. May want to stay away from the guy bleeding out from his neck. He touches you and you’ll take his place in the “hereafter”.
Mobsters? Check. Demons? You bet. Bloody gore and supernatural lore? You know it. If any of those things are up your alley you need to read The Damned. I can’t wait to learn the full story of Eddie’s curse. I also can’t wait to see what these demons have up their sleeves for Eddie moving forward. But, the thing I’m most looking forward to is how Eddie will face these demons.
