bill bodkin and logan j. fowler join the squad…
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. I’ve been eyeing up this movie since I saw the first trailer. Gangster Squad looks to be a good start for cinema in the year 2013, boasting a rock solid cast of great younger (Gosling, Stone) and older (Nolte, Penn, Brolin) actors. Set against the back drop of the 1940s and 50s, the film tells the tale of mob criminals trying to take over the west coast only to find the defense of the LAPD running against them. With the cast, the locale, and the historical setting all in place, the movie just seems like a ride and I’m hopefully going to be able to catch it opening weekend. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. The release of Gangster Squad is either signaling that 2013 is going to be an amazing year at the movies or it is peeking way too early. Either way, the film, directed by the Ruben Fleischer who crafted Zombieland, should no doubt be an awesome film — filled with bullets, booze and blood. Throw in an already established chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, a top-notch supporting cast including: Giovanni Ribsi, Michael Pena and Anthony Mackine (and of course Josh Brolin and Sean Penn) and this should be a winning formula for an entertaining and extremely well-done movie. –BB
