logan j. fowler and bill bodkin are on the hunt…
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Not gonna lie, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters looks like a fun ride in a guilty pleasure sort of way. In an updated story from the fabled fairy tale, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) are bad ass bounty hunters who must elimnate witches wherever they may roam. While Renner is definitley above this sort of camp at this point in his career, seeing the quickly rising star chew some scenery should be a good time, as well as the gorgeous Gemma Arterton kicking some witch ass. It might be horrible, it may be surprisingly good, but either way, I’m kind of curious about it and will definitley check it out come rental time. –LJF
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters…yeah I just can’t get behind this concept enough to drop a 10 spot at the local cineplex. It sounds like the title to a SyFy Original Movie or something you’d see late night on The Movie Channel — not a major motion picture with two relatively hot acting commodities. It just seems a bit silly, which I’m fine with, but, much like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer (which I enjoyed), I will save this cinematic foray for DVD. Nothing in the trailer has given me much of a reason to check this out — run-of-the-mill FX, oddly overdubbed dialogue and it’s hard to take Jeremy Renner serious when he’s talking about his parent’s death as he and his sister (as kids) walked into a candy filled house. It’s all kinda silly and all the things DVD rental are made of. –BB
