Pop-Preview: Summer at The Stone Pony

the newsdesk wants you to restore the shore …

We’re stoked for Summer 2013, especially at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J.

Yes, we may be a bit biased since Asbury Park is our homebase, but the line-up this year is probably one of the venue’s best in ages. Obviously you can read the above graphic to check out the SummerStage line-up but we’d like to highlight some shows inside the venue (and some out) that we think you’ll dig.

Thursday May 23rd: Jason Newsted of formerly Metallica brings his new quartet, aptly named Newsted, to town. Wilson and Black Ocean to open. Check out our interview with Jason here.

Saturday May 25th and Sunday May 26th: The Gaslight Anthem returns home and christens the SummerStage! On Saturday they’ll bring The Hold Steady and Luther with them while on Sunday it’ll be The Felice Brothers and Luther with a post-show performance indoors by The Dirty Pearls.

Friday May 31st: Tom Keifer of Cinderella, who just dropped a new album on Merovee Records, will be performing. If you haven’t heard his new stuff, you’re missing out on something awesome.

Thursday June 6th: The Olms performs. Who are The Olms? They’re the new band featuring JD King and Jersey’s favorite alt-rocker Pete Yorn.

Friday June 7th: The annual joyous jam that is Rusted Root at The Pony returns. They’ll have James “JPat” Dalton and Quincy Mumford along for the ride. Check out our interview with Rusted Root from last year.

Saturday June 8th: Punk troubadour Frank Turner returns to AP. After selling out Wonder Bar last year in seconds, he is in town to promote his new record, if there’s ticket remaining to this we’d be stunned. Check out interview with Frank Turner.
