The Cold Open (Plot)
Will breaks up with Nina over her suggestions to up his likeability ratings. Jim sees Hallie while the Romney campaign is in New York while Maggie continues to drown the Africa tragedy with alcohol. The strong passion and belief in Genoa causes Jerry Dantana to doctor a live interview with a former general.
The Lead Anchor (Top Performance)
Jim is clearly the only sensible journalist on the ACN team, therefore, the lead anchor nom goes to him this week! However, he should be more forward with his intuitions. He’s too passive when he strongly believes something is wrong (a.k.a. Maggie’s drinking problem, Genoa…)
Today’s Top Story (Favorite Part of the Episode)
If you have read my previous Newsroom recaps, you know that I love the little LOL moments. That being said, my favorite part hands down was Will going on the Morning Show. The moment he hit that television light with the football, I couldn’t stop laughing. I felt bad for him but he totally shouldn’t have gotten through with it in the first place. You live and learn, I guess!
The Human Interest Piece (Little Thing We Loved)
While I’m still hanging on to the romance between Jim and Maggie, I actually liked Hallie in this episode. I don’t know how she suddenly got more likeable but their double date was actually a very amusing scene.
They Could’ve Buried This Lead (Worst Part of the Episode)
JD doctoring the footage was really painful to watch as a former journalism student and someone who believes very strongly in media ethics. After watching this episode, I think it’s safe to say he wins for worst part of the episode for the rest of the season.
Episode Thoughts
We’re finally at the climax of the season, friends, and boy is it about to get interesting…
I can’t wait to watch Jerry Dantana get canned (just not any of the other ACN reporters, okay Sorkin?)
