Name: Ann Hale
The State You Live in: North Carolina
Favorite Horror Film and Why: Everyone says it, but Halloween is easily my favorite. I love the simplicity of it. Everything in the film is minimal from Michael Myer’s mask down to the score, yet the film continues to be frightening. Obviously John Carpenter did something right as Halloween has one of the largest horror movie fan bases I have ever seen.
What You Collect: I collect Halloween memorabilia, variant covers of the film series on DVD, Blu-ray, VHS, Laser disc and Beta. I pick up special editions, limited editions, different languages and steel books. I do also collect action figures, prints, posters, soundtracks, books, comics, masks, props and promotional items.
Your Favorite Pieces in Your Collection or What Pieces You’re Most Proud of: My favorite pieces are a skull prop that I have from a commercial for Sheri Moon Zombie’s clothing line Total Skull that my friend Kenny wrote and directed. The skull is autographed by Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon as well as the rest of the cast of the commercial.
The pride and joy of my collection is my Devils Rejects poster that I have signed by several cast members including Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, Ken Foree, William Forsythe, Michael Berryman, Lew Temple, PJ Soles, Priscilla Barnes, Tyler Mane, Dave Sheridan and Tom Towles.
What Inspired You to Start Collecting? It honestly just sort of happened. I started seeing cool things in the stores that I just needed to have. Eventually, it became a hobby that takes up an entire room in my apartment.
The First Piece You Acquired and When: The first horror item I remember owning was my Scream mask. I bought it for Halloween back in 1995. After that, I picked up a Scream 2 poster followed by a Ghostface action figure.
Your Favorite Story About a Piece You Own: I helped book some of the cast of the Devils Rejects for a convention earlier this year. I worked really hard to contact agents and build the actors interest in attending this convention. During the con itself, I spent the day with Tyler Mane who played RJ in the film but was Michael Myers in the Rob Zombie Halloweens. As a thank you, the cast signed the Devils Rejects poster for me. Tyler Mane and PJ Soles even threw in extra autographed photos. As cliché as it sounds, it really was a dream come true for me.
