Our old friend, the bluesy punk rock guitar slinging siren Tara Elliott, will be holding a record release party for her brand new record, Drop a Needle on the King (which was mastered by Monster Magnet’s Atomic Bob) on Friday, January 24th at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Joining Elliott onstage with her band, will be Joe Taylor (Lita Ford, Doro, Cycle of Pain) as The Red Velvets’ lead guitar player and guests Robert Butkowski (Plato Zorba) on trumpet and Deseree Spinks (Des and the Swagmatics) on backup vocals & keys.
Doors are at 8pm and the show starts 8:30pm. The show will also feature: The Brakemen, Section 8, VyntEdge and Jenny And The Felines.
We’ve heard the record already (review to come) and it’s a fantastic mix of all things Tara Elliott fans love about her — it’s punk rock, it’s blues, it’s bold, it’s got some screaming guitar work and ultimately it’s the music you’ve come to know and love from the now blonde “red rocker” of Asbury Park, but with a more mature, refined edge to it.
