The Road to Wrestlemania: The Official Preview & Predictions

This is it. Just hours away from WrestleMania 30.

We have learned “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be at WrestleMania 30. Big news right there. Will The Rock show up as well? [Editor’s Note: There’s a photo from The Rock’s official Twitter account with Dwayne Johnson in front of a sign for New Orleans with the text “I’ve missed you New Orleans… #HomeAwayFromHome #GumboAndTequila #ElectrifyWrestleMania” He was also reported to be backstage at the WWE Hall of Fame.]

We also learned the WWE Tag Team Title match has been bumped off and onto the pre-show. Disappointing for everyone. Both the wrestlers involved and for the fans. Although, judging by last year, there was a title change on the pre-show, so exciting events may still happen. SmackDown was all promos and hype, Hogan appeared and pushed the Andre Memorial even more, and Dolph Ziggler gets a huge win over Titus O’Neil.

Here we go, my predictions for this year:

Pre-Show: WWE Tag Team Championship four-way: Los Matadores vs. The Real Americans vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel vs. The Usos.
Matadores and Ryback/Axel have no shot of walking away as tag champs. If either do, it would be the upset of the decade. My choice is between the Real Americans and the Usos. Both teams are more than deserving of a big win at WrestleMania 30. I would love to see Zeb Colter celebrate with Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro as new champions, but a short reign by the Usos is very unlikely.

Who I Want to Win: The Real Americans
Who Will Win: The Usos

Divas Invitational: Emma, Aksana, The Bellas, The Funkadactyls, Layla, Summer Rae, Eva Marie, Rosa Mendes, Alicia Fox, Tamina, Natalya, and champion AJ Lee.
Good lord this will be a waste of time. Probably a filler before the main event. Lee is now promoted as the longest reigning Diva champion ever. Any similarities to her boyfriend at all? The reign may come to an end, but, it might not. We could get a surprise entrant, or concession sales may reach a high for the night.

Who I Want to Win: Natalya
Who Will Win: AJ Lee

Kane & The New Age Outlaws vs. The Shield
This one will be a war. Shield rebelling against who I am assuming to be their former employes are now striking out on their own. Too many things could happen. Any one of the Shield members could pull a heel-turn. The constant tease of them breaking up was more dramatic than a high school love triangle. Could it happen at Mania? Maybe. This one will be a good, solid bout.

Who I Want to Win: The Shield
Who Will Win: The Shield

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt
This is not the first time they squared off, but this is the first time John Cena will go against Bray Wyatt. What the hell do I mean? John Cena faced Husky Harris, former Nexus member. He was a different person, Bray Wyatt is a whole new ballgame. This is an individual you do not take lightly at all. I will assume Erick Rowan and Luke Harper will be skulking around ringside, perhaps they will be a factor in the match, or maybe they will not. Cena has been cutting promos about newcomers having to go through him to be the next big thing in WWE. Bray Wyatt stepping up to fill the role at WrestleMania, wow. Regardless of the outcome, Bray Wyatt stands to only gain. This one is very hard to predict.

Who I Want to Win: Bray Wyatt
Who Will Win: John Cena

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
Talk about the easiest way to cut everyone a payday. The big men are going to be the favorites to win. There are guys like Sheamus, Big E. Langston, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto del Rio, and even Titus O’Neil who might appear to be potential winners, but reality is either Big Show and Mark Henry as the two top guys expected to win. Keep in mind there are three vacant spots, so anything could happen.

Who I Want to Win: Mark Henry
Who Will Win: The Big Show

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker
We already covered everything we need to know about this match. Brock is billed to be a beast whom Undertaker will not be able to tame. This will not be a wrestling match, but a disappointing brawl. Maybe the Deadman does not have it in him anymore? I would have much rather seen Undertaker/CM Punk II, but well… That is not happening. Brock was promised a marquee match in his contract.

Who I Want to Win: The Undertaker
Who Will Win: The Undertaker

Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H
What more could be said. This is the golden chance for Daniel Bryan to go onto the main event of WrestleMania 30. Of course, all hopes and dreams can be annihilated if Triple H wins. Man, could you see that? Opening match of the night, and Bryan loses. Could you imagine what the live crowd would do for the rest of the show? The internet would explode. I would laugh my ass off. I think the fans will get what they want, but might not be the way they expect it.

Who I Want to Win: A double pin/DQ situation and both go to the main event, breaking the internet in the process.
Who Will Win: Daniel Bryan

WWE Championship: Batista vs. Randy Orton vs. ??-Oh who are we kidding, of course it will be Daniel Bryan
Let’s face it. WWE thought Batista coming back would have been big. It was big, for his own bank account. Batista got offended at fans booing him so he whined back and the crowd booed him even more. The heel turn decision was made by the fans, not by WWE. To steal a line from Gene Snitsky, it was not his fault. Timing was bad. As punishment for not putting Bryan in the Rumble, fans rebelled against WWE and turned on the eventual Rumble winner, made worse by the fact it was seen coming a mile away. Batista, to his credit had to roll with it. He never made a great heel, his promos are not the best either. His wrestling though is what made him watchable, although lately the latter point can be disputed. Randy Orton, he has become the heel champion we are tired of seeing. He whines, he cries, he moans and groans more than my kids. I suppose it made him the heel we hate, but it does not mean he is a good heel. I good heel riles you up and pisses you off. Seeing Orton on camera elicits a yawn and a flip of the channel. Bray Wyatt is a guy you tune in to seeing. When Punk was heel everyone was glues to the television. Orton has no traits which garners this attention. Did WWE do this purposely? To make him appear a weak title holder? In the end, WrestleMania 30 has to end on a high note, and even I do not believe WWE will allow a stipulation in Batista’s contract ruin a show.

Who EVERYONE Wants to Win: Daniel Bryan
Who Will Win: Daniel Bryan

There is nothing left to be said.

There is no more to drone on about.

No more rumors. No more shockers.

No more talking.

Ladies and Gentlemen, “The Road” has come to an end. Just hours away is the Show of Shows, the Grandest Stage of Them All. Tonight is… WRESTLEMANIA!!
