Even though Bob’s Burgers is now a staple of Fox’s Sunday night programming block, many still consider the show a cult favorite. It’s not quite on the level of popularity as The Simpsons or Family Guy, obviously. Yet looking at filled 3,000+ seat main stage, you wouldn’t be able to tell. Over the course of an hour and a half, the cast and creators behind Bob’s Burgers delighted their devoted fans with jokes, special previews, and several witty answers to some crowd questions. There was a lot to love from the event, but Lauren Stern and Luke Kalamar decided to pick five that they thought were the absolute highlights.

Linda Belcher Goes Blonde

The Bob’s Burgers panel contained three tantalizing clips about this upcoming season. Out of all, the absolute best was the Belcher matriarch changing her hair to a deep blonde. Normally a hairstyle doesn’t change a person’s character, but Linda became so self-absorbed in her new beauty that she began to act extra sultry around Bob. Considering how extreme Linda acts, this fit her character beautifully, and Bob’s completely disinterested/confused reactions were simply the icing on the cake. This might be the storyline we’re most excited for.

Eugene Mirman’s One-Liners

Though the panel was entirely occupied by the big stars of the show, the real standout of the day was unquestionably Eugene Mirman. He was a never ending well of one-liners. Two of the best came from the question and answer session with the audience. One was in response to a woman asking if the characters Tina and Louise Belcher were in reference to actress Tina Louise of Gilligan’s Island fame. Mirman, in a totally straight face, simply replied, “What are you? A Gilligan’s Island truther?” Shortly after her, a fan asked the full cast what they would do if their characters came to life. Mirman’s response? “How did you come to life?!” That was number two.

John Roberts’ Linda Voice

What’s surprising about Bob’s Burgers is that most of the actors in real life sound exactly like the characters, most especially Kristen Schaal (Louise) and H. John Benjamin (Bob). This was very much not the case with John Roberts (Linda), so to get the full effect; he threw out a couple of fan answers and panel conversations in her voice. The fans really went crazy over that and it totally felt like Linda was right there in the room with us!

The Bob’s Burgers Location Mystery

The exact location of the crazy seaside town of Bob’s Burgers is a big debate among fans. The general consensus is that it’s somewhere on the east coast, with many people pointing towards the Jersey Shore. That was more or less confirmed during the panel when, in response to the audience, creator Loren Bouchard stated, “I like to think the show takes place near the Jersey Shore.” That caused all of our fellow Jersey residents to go absolutely nuts. Of course, he followed that up by explaining how the boardwalk took inspiration from the rusty rides of Coney Island, but that was only an extra addition. As far as we’re concerned, Bob’s Burgers is all Jersey.

Gene’s Next Production

In the recent season premiere of Bob’s Burgers, we got to see Gene’s original production of Die Hard The Musical. So we were dying to know: What pop culture-infused play will Gene concoct next? To get the answer to our burning question, we sent our television editor, Luke Kalamar, up to the podium dressed like Tina’s crush Jimmy Pesto Jr. This is when all hilarity ensued. Before Luke could even ask, Bouchard was encouraging him to dance like Jimmy. Luke responded with a few sultry moves and some voiceover impressions.

After Luke captured the hearts of over 3,000 Bob’s Burgers fans, we got the inside scoop. According to Mirman, Gene’s “next big hit” could be an adaptation of the A-Team.
