Lucius Photo Gallery & Review
After Bahamas’ captivating set I stayed in the pit the rest of the evening because Terminal 5 was packed in so tight it appeared as it would burst at any moment. The crowd went wild as soon as Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig took the stage and opened with “Go Home.” Their powerful voices and incredible harmony flowed into the sea of fans and enveloped them in euphoria. The ladies bravely crowd surfed in their white gowns during “Hey Doreen.” Later on they invited Andrew James of Elaphant for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “When The Night Comes Falling.” Lucius performed their new song “Punisher” and assured the crowd that they were going back in the studio to work on new songs. The sold out show was a huge welcome home/year end party for the Brooklyn band, complete with costume change, streamers, confetti and a dress code. Just last year, around the same time, they were playing the Bowery Ballroom, promoting their 2013 debut album, Wildewoman, (Mom + Pop records) before heading off for an intense year of touring the US and Europe, also doing festivals and opening for Jack White in Europe.
The quintet closed out the night with a triple encore, playing in the center of the crowd and sending us merrily on our way with a very special cover of John Lennon’s “Was is Over,” as the giant disco ball glimmered, white confetti fell down like snow and cell phones lit up Terminal 5 like sparkling stars on a clear winter night. If you were not lucky enough to experience this spectacular show, make sure you catch Lucius next time they come to your town. You don’t want to miss out on them again. They truly are breathtaking.
