5. ‘Louder Than Words’ by Pink Floyd

I never thought I would type these words; Pink Floyd released a new album this year. Let me rephrase that. Pink Floyd, one of the greatest rock bands of all time, which has been broken up since 1994, blessed the world with The Endless River, their first album in twenty years.

Part companion piece to 1994’s The Division Bell and part love letter to the late keyboardists Richard Wright; The Endless River was the biggest surprise in music of 2014 and possibly the decade. ‘Louder Than Words’ is the last track on the standard release of the album and the only song containing vocals. The song perfectly encapsulates the post-Rogers Waters era of Pink Floyd and the album is a great send off to the rock n roll icons.
