This summer, the Riot Fest concert series will return for its 11th year with shows in Denver, Chicago and Toronto scheduled throughout late August and early September. Each show boasts a diverse set list of musicians and bands from all genres, while their website promises to put “fans first” at all three events.
The first of the three weekend-long shows will last from August 28 through August 30 in Denver, Coloardo. The lineup will include rock bands like Modest Mouse, Pixies and Coheed and Cambria, as well as classic rock star Iggy Pop. Icons of 90s hip-hop like Snoop Dogg, Run DMC and Ice Cube will also make an appearance. Other highlights include ska band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and heavy metal group GWAR, with more acts being added in the coming weeks. There will also be special performances by the Rock-Afire Explosion and Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow Revue.
After the Denver shows, the Riot Fest will move to Chicago, Illinois from September 11 to September 13. The first wave of artists announced includes pop band No Doubt, 80s rocker Billy Idol, and comedic duo Tenacious D. The lineup also includes a number of popular alternative rock groups, such as the Airborne Toxic Event, The Academy Is… and the critically acclaimed punk group Against Me! Once again, the Rock-Afire Explosion and Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow Revue will make an appearance. Hey, if you’re out there check out Pop-Break’s very own, Modern Chemistry.
The final three days of the Fest, to be held on September 1 9 and 20, will include hardcore Canadian band Alexisonfire and rap group Wu-Tang Clan. Other artists announced in the first wave of bands include alt-rock groups like All Time Low and The Joy Formidable, as well as rapper Tyler, The Creator. More bands will be added to the lineup on June 16.
