It has been reported that the foundation of X-Men spinoff, Gambit, may be crumbling.
Channing Tatum is slotted to star as the charming thief, as well as produce the film alongside his creative partner Reid Carolin. However, his Gambit deal may be in jeopardy and as of now looks as though Tatum might exit the project. Though it is unclear if Tatum and Reid will remain on as producers or if X-Men producing alums, Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, will carry the project out alone.
Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is set to direct and 20th Century Fox has reportedly begun screen testing female actors to star alongside Tatum, including Lea Seydoux (Spectre, Blue is the Warmest Color.) Gambit is still currently scheduled for an October 7, 2016 release date. No official statement has yet been made.
