Almost everyone knows that this is the worst film in the series so let’s get this out of the way. Mission Impossible 2 involves Ethan Hunt trying to stop the spread of some genetically modified disease called, “Chimera.” It is a compelling idea but the movie’s incoherence kills it to the point that I had to look this movie up on IMDB.com just to remember what the plot was. John Woo’s action is always fun to watch but his overreliance on using the face mask almost turns this film into a comedy instead of an exciting action-thriller. Legend has it that there is an original 4-hour version of thie movie that Woo edited himself that fixes the mountain of plot holes and pacing issues of the theatrical cut. Unfortunately it will probably never make the light of day so the future looks grim for Mission Impossible 2.
