Nobody is safe! Especially not speedsters. Another Grodd episode gave some of the side characters their time in the spotlight. Some shined. Others whatever the opposite of shined is. All of that will be reflected in this week’s Flash Character Coolness Rankings. Below are the completely subjective coolness rankings from Matthew Kelly our resident Flash expert for Season 2 Week 7. As always, let us know if you agree with our rankings and who you think should be number one in the comments below.
1 Caitlin Snow (previously 1)
This woman is unstoppable. After nailing every problem with the Zoom plan last week, Caitlin uses this week as an opportunity to take a Grodd centric victory lap. She seemed to be the only member of the team that isn’t on board with more straight up murder, which is a always positive. She also will be responsible for putting Grodd on the path to becoming a great Season 3 baddie (if the effects budget will allow it).
2 Harrison “Harry” Wells (previously 7)
Harry loses points for trying to bounce in the first ten minutes, but what a turnaround. He went full Eobard and tricked Grodd into thinking he was actually the Reverse Flash. Is anyone else starting to think he is a little too good at that? First he nailed the word Speed Mirage and now he is calling out details of Wells plan for Grodd that I can’t imagine anyone but Wells knew. Suspect. Highly suspect!
3 Iris West (previously 5)
Iris is steadily climbing the Coolness Rankings and this week she has cracked the Top Three. Let’s go over some positives 1) No painful CCPN dialog. 2) Iris had the brilliant idea to bring Henry back onto the show. 3) No painful CCPN dialog. Can’t stress that enough.
4 Patty Spivot (previously 3)
It is going to take a lot to put Patty into the bottom half of the rankings. She is just so great. Realistically, another poor showing from our favorite detective might earn her that spot. We are also getting dangerously close to Patty crossing the line separating naive girlfriend from awful detective concerning Barry’s identity.
5 Joe West (previously 4)
Joe had a quiet week overall but he wasn’t incredibly helpful with the Grodd case. Joe also completely blew up Barry’s spot with the canned soup line. Clearly most of the blame should be on Barry for that one but Joe still got way too specific in an unhelpful way.
6 Cisco Ramon (previously 2)
So Cisco scores this incredible date with gorgeous barista Kendra Saunders and he goes to the date already quoting the movie they are about to see. Kind of annoying but overall a bold move. When he touches her hand and accidentally vibes into seeing some sort of bird-person, does he just roll with it and continue the date? No. He runs away like he just saw the Reverse Flash. And speaking of that, great move to have Harry wear the yellow suit, but maybe next time go ahead and tell Barry that’s the plan before he just sees Reverse Flash walking around S.T.A.R. Labs and murders him.
7 Barry Allen (previously 6)
Come on Barry. We’ve all been there. Zoom breaks your back and you have no confidence. That doesn’t mean you don’t get back at it. Didn’t we already have a “Barry lost his confidence“ episode with Blackout? Also, if you are going to lie to the girl you’re dating, you have to coordinate the lie so your friend doesn’t accidentally say the word-for-word exact opposite of what you said.
8 Jay Garrick (previously 8 )
Where. Is. Jay.
