Crossover episodes are a good way to shake things up and shake things up they did. Some characters got a chance to redeem themselves and others are reaching new levels of dumbness That’s where this week’s Flash Character Coolness Rankings come in. Below are the completely subjective coolness rankings from Matthew Kelly our resident Flash expert for Season 2 Week 8. As always, let us know if you agree with our rankings and who you think should be number one in the comments below.
1 CAITLIN SNOW (PREVIOUSLY 1)
Another great week for Caitlin. She figured out how to perfect Velocity 6 in about 30 seconds. She convinced Jay to use his powers to save Harry. She kept the B-Team intact while Barry and the A-Team threw a barista off a building. That’s all you need to do to stay on top.
2 CISCO RAMON (PREVIOUSLY 6)
Tough week for Cisco, losing the Kendra to some crazy Egyptian destiny. Gotta give him a lot of credit though. Whatever happened between their first date and yesterday must have been amazing and goes against all of the Cisco dorkiness we have come to expect. Between Kendra and Golden Glider, maybe Cisco is the rare complete dork who can turn on the charm and get things done regardless of what graphic tee he happens to be wearing. Also, I forget who it was that called Cisco out on his hair but I agree completely.
3 BARRY ALLEN (PREVIOUSLY 7)
Good move Barry. Calling Oliver was the right more even though I thought the whole “Oliver knows mysticism” thing was a surprise to everyone else this season. I can’t see why Barry would know it. Also going from “this guys stabbed a couple guys and looks like someone from the 60s” to “he must be an all powerful warlock”, while correct, is quite a stretch. Barry got some time in this week to show Oliver his fresh new lightning move and even those Flashucinnos reaffirming The Flash as objectively better in every way. Plus that rapid sketch thing is pretty cool.
4 IRIS WEST (PREVIOUSLY 3)
These crossover episodes usually end up excluding one or two characters. This time is was the Wests who got pushed to the sidelines. Since she wouldn’t been of much use anyway, Iris gets to keep her spot for not needlessly inserting herself into the drama. Also she’s probably going to be plenty busy next week. Good on you Iris.
5 JAY GARRICK (PREVIOUSLY 8)
He’s back! After a long vacation (of possibly being Zoom) Jay finally returned to S.T.A.R. Labs to save his arch nemesis. You’ve gotta give Jay credit. Velocity 6 throws up a lot of giant red flags but Jay did what needed to be done and pulled that bullet out of Harry. Time will tell if he can maintain his position or if he has to disappear for another three or four episodes.
6 HARRISON “HARRY” WELLS (PREVIOUSLY 2)
This episode wasn’t about Harry and that’s fine. He didn’t do anything too unforgivable this week. Velocity 6 seemed to work, so Harry deserves at least half credit. He also got shot and didn’t die because nobody dies on this show if it isn’t at least the mid season finale.
7 PATTY SPIVOT (PREVIOUSLY 4)
Come on Patty. Don’t you watch the news? You can’t just go shooting at seemingly dead scientists. Especially not in the heart. Let’s look at some scenarios. A) Patty didn’t know that Earth-1 Wells was a speedster which means she attempted to murder a regular guy. B) Patty did know Earth – 1 Wells was a speedster in which case, what good would shooting him do? C) Patty is Zoom. I like C. If it isn’t C, Patty is a pretty bad detective.
8 JOE WEST (PREVIOUSLY 5)
TELL PATTY ABOUT BARRY! God damn it, Joe! She’s going to be cool with it. She’s been cool with everything so far except for all of your lying. The only situation where you don’t tell Patty is if she has some sort of tragic backstory some loved one was killed as a result of the Flash. Since that didn’t happen, all of this lying is only going to end with her telling Singh and ruining everything and when that happens, it is 100% on Joe.
