Pop-Break Live: Ron Pope & The Nighthawks, Irving Plaza, 1/09/16
Hello Or High Water 2016 World Tour
Ron Pope & The Nighthawks kicked off their world tour with a sold out show at Irving Plaza last Saturday, a day after the release of the self-titled debut album on Pope’s own Brooklyn Basement Records. Georgia native Pope gained a big following as an independent artist and has released 10 albums as a solo artist. However, this time around he has gathered a great group of Brooklyn-based musicians to form The Nighthawks: Paul Hammer, Alex Foote, Andrew Pertes, Alex Brumel, Alan Markley and Michael Riddleberger.
Ron Pope & The Nighthawks played a two hour set at their first show of the year. The set included the new album and he closed out the night with the viral hit “A Drop In The Ocean,” to which the audience jubilantly echoed the chorus. Ron had us feeling all kinds of emotions with his blend of Americana, Pop, Rock to the soulful ballads audience members get proposed to. They resume the tour today in Europe and will be back in the states in February. Be sure to catch them when they come to your town, it is one hell of a feel good, foot stomping party.
