‘The Post Modern Prometheus’
(Season 5, Episode 5)
In a modern retelling of Frankenstein, Mulder and Scully are sent to a small town to investigate a two-faced monster that attacks women, which ultimately lands them on a trail of a mad scientist that may or may not have created the monster. Filmed in glorious black and white.
Why it’s worth watching: If you’re like me, and a big fan of the Universal monster movies, you really don’t need anymore reason to check this episode out. Straying away from the gruesome violence a little, this episode, that was written and directed by series creator Chris Carter, shows how much fun the show would have with its stories and characters. It definitely shows you how much heart and wit was carried in the series at this point, which some would say was at its peak during this time. If you like visual flair and witty homages of post modernism then this one will work for you.
