2016’s lineup for the Roots Picnic was announced earlier this week in the form of a Youtube video starring Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, the co-creators of the Web series, Broad City. These quirky comedians draw their game plan for the festival on a map of the venue and reveal the lineup along the way.
This year’s June 4 celebration will feature the headliners Usher (backed by The Roots), Future, and Leon Bridges. Other artists include Blood Orange, Kehlani, Kaytranada, Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals, Ibeyi, DMX, Metro Boomin, Migos, Lil Dicky, and Willow Smith.
The ninth annual Roots Picnic will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is the hometown of The Roots band. The event is situated at Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River Waterfront at Festival Pier, which is an outdoor venue complete with a sandy beach, food trucks and a beer garden. The view of the Ben Franklin Bridge nearby will act as a tribute to the origin of The Roots.
General tickets for the Roots Picnic will be available this Friday, Feb. 5 at noon on Ticketmaster. There are also some presale options to consider.
