When we look at Avatar being the highest grossing picture of all time, we collectively scratch our heads. Can you not say the same for Alice in Wonderland (2010) breaking $1 Billion at the box office? Do you know anybody who likes this film? This was back in 2010 when Tim Burton and Johnny Depp still had juice. No Burton this time around, but Depp is back. He hasn’t exactly been bringing in the dough lately. The original brought in just over $334 Million domestic. If you sliced that in half, it still wouldn’t bomb, and that’s probably what we’re looking at here. Even if you enjoyed the original film, that was six years ago. The film will do fine, but just miss out on the top ten.
What It Has Going For It: It’s still a name, and the last one was ridiculously successful.
What It Has Going Against It: We’ve all moved on.
Domestic Take: $164 Million
