The X-Men franchise is on a tear right now. The last two films (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool) smashed the previous records of all other X-Men films. For whatever reason though, the latest entry seems to have a ‘meh’ vibe right now. While this is my most anticipated movie of the summer, even I admit the trailers haven’t been incredible. These trailers are fighting a losing battle though, as Days of Future Past presented some of the best trailers I’ve ever seen. This entry also doesn’t have the benefit of uniting the older cast. And even though Deadpool was insanely popular, it’s viewed more as its own entity, not an X-Men film. If the reviews are strong though (X-Men films have a good history on Rotten Tomatoes), this could easily sky rocket towards $300 Million. Right now though, I’m expecting this to fall right in line with Days of Future Past.
What It Has Going For It: X-Men movies have been on a great run.
What It Has Going Against It: Mediocre trailer vibes. No Wolverine.
Domestic Take: $235 Million
