If you’ve been waiting around for new material and obsessively listening to every Blink-182 album that’s ever existed, now is the time to press pause. Why, you may ask?
After plenty of teasing on Instagram and an accidental upload earlier today (Wednesday afternoon), Blink-182’s new single, “Bored to Death,” is now available in the form of a lyric video on Youtube. This nostalgic track, which features a fast-paced bass groove similar to their earlier music, will be on their upcoming album “California,” available on July 1.
“Bored to Death” is the first single released since Matt Skiba joined the band, and he does not disappoint. The track is an anthem-like tune with a strong, catchy chorus that always returns to the lyrics, “life is too short to last long.” The song tells a story that plays on the concepts of life and death and the theme revolves around a lack of complete satisfaction with one’s life. After all, “it’s a long way back from seventeen.”
The song is complete with a drum solo from Travis Barker towards the end, which gives the song that signature Blink-182 feel. Fans are sure to play this song over and over during the “long wait” until the new album is released on July 1. If need be, fans can preorder “California” on http://blink182.com/ and brag about being the owner of new Blink-182 music.
