Pop-Break Live: Michael Franti & Spearhead at The Playstation Theater in New York City
The Soul Rocker himself (no, not the luchador) Michael Franti brought his soulful, and at times sun-soaked blending of hip-hop, reggae, funk, folk, jazz, and rock to New York City’s Playstation Theater on July 15.
The 50 year old singer/songwriter, is currently promoting his new record Soul Rocker (hence the aforementioned reference), which reached #38 on the Billboard Charts this year. Franti (and Spearhead) is known for his hits such as “I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like),” “The Sound of Sunshine,” and “Say Hey (I Love You).”
Opening up for Franti was Nashville-based musician Marc Scibilia.
Pop-Break’s Saidy Lopez caught the bands in action.
